About Us

The Bedford Township Fire Department is located in the northwestern corner of Calhoun County, Michigan  on the North side of Battle Creek. It is a Paid-On-Call department with 24 members that operate out of 3 fire stations. The department consists of 3 pumpers, 2 tankers, 2 brush trucks, 1 brush/plow vehicle, 1 mini-pumper and 1 rescue boat. There is 1 chief, 1 assistant chief, 1 captain, 3 lieutenants, and 17 firefighters.

Each member is at least certified to Firefigher I & II, Hazmat Operations, and Drivers training. Several members are also had additional training to Hazmat Technician and are members of the Calhoun County Hazmat Team. Some have completed Trench Rescue Technician, Confined space, Ice Rescue Technician and are EMT's, MFR's or Paramedics. Currently BTFD does not operate a confined space/Trench rescue team nor run on medical calls unless to assist the ambulance.

                     

 Station 1: North Bedford Rd (M-37) in the village, houses Engine 531, Brush 571, Mini-pumper 551 and the rescue boat "Phil"

Station 2: S. Uldricks Rd. (off M-89) houses Engine 532, Tanker 562, Brush 572 and Brush/Plow 573 along with the Township offices.

Station 3: Morgan Ave. (near North Ave.) houses Engine 533 and Tanker 561.
